Great Appreciation

Hello All You Wonderful People,

Just received your box of comfort items for our cancer patients.

Thank you so much for putting in the time craftsmanship and effort for our patients.

We opened the box and had two recipients immediately.

Thank You,

LeAnn D, Jeppesen Radiation Oncology

Good morning,

I wanted to reach out to your organization this morning to tell you to thank you for your kind gifts. My son is an 11-year-old patient at the infusion department at our local hospital he does not have cancer but does have several other medical conditions. He was so excited to get a blanket and a hat. Thank you for thinking of people such as my son.

Hi, my name is Dawn **** I live in Australia. I have just got my confidence in knitting and crocheting which I have done all my life. I can’t physically do much, so am on  Facebook groups and got involved in making chemo caps. I love it! Just want to say THANK YOU for your patterns and look forward in making.

Thanking you for reading this, and again THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!

From Dawn ****, Australia

I have a dear friend who is fighting cancer and asked for some chemo caps because, of course, of her hair loss.  I found a perfect pattern here, which you listed for free.  I have donated … to your website because I SO admire what you are doing.  Thank you!!

Terry
From Saint Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, MI

Dear June, I am happily wearing the blue chemo cap that you knitted. It’s an exquisite piece of work! When I was knitting years ago, I tried to learn knitting in the round, but never mastered it. Your stitches are beautiful, and I’ll happily wear it when I beat this nasty disease. Thank you for caring so much for someone you’ve never met. It’s like a hug from afar. Bless you, Leah K.

Dear Marlena, Thank you for knitting hats for cancer patients. My wife, Penny, received one at Lakeshore Area Radiation Oncology in Holland. She received 12 radiation treatments, on to pass on in November. God Bless. Thank you, George Z.

Dear Members of Knit Michigan, Thank you for the blankets you recently delivered to the Rose Cancer Resource Center at Beaumont-Royal Oak. Blankets from the “Creating Comfort for Those Challenged by Cancer” Program are provided to cancer patients to use in the hospital and to take home. Patients are so grateful to receive a blanket. Many patients needing chemotherapy will include the blanket as part of their treatment comfort kit. On behalf of Beaumont-Royal Oak and our patients, thank you again for your continued support. -Warm Regards, Rose Cancer Resource Center, Royal Oak

Dear Knit Michigan, Thank you so much for creating beautiful treasures that we can share with our patients as they go through treatment and recovery. The craftsmanship is absolutely astounding! I, for one, would pay money for some of the items. It is so helpful to gift our patients … and we appreciate you so much . -Sincerely, The 5 West Team at Sparrow, Lansing

Dear Knit Michigan, Please accept my sincere gratitude for your gift of 25 knit caps, five fleece blankets, and other items. It is said, to be generous means giving something that is valuable to you without expectation of reward or return. However, the greatest blessing that comes with giving and making a difference in the lives of children, is in fact, that giving feels good. I hope you join us in feeling good about the work that is going on at Children’s Hospital and in our community. Please know that your support is critical to making our vision possible. Because of you we are able to provide children more days to play, nights to dream and time to just be kids. -Larry J. Burns, President and CEO, Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation

Dear Friends, Thank you for your gift to the UMCCC Patient and Family Support Services Program. Every day at the UMHS, we strive to build a better future for our community. Our mission is ambitios: to push the boundaries of science in both the lab and the clinic, with the hope of finding the most innovative and transformative treatments for our patients; to recruit bright, passionate faculty and provide them the space to revolutionize medicine; and to find the best students and offer them a unique educational experience that will shape them into future leaders. Without your partnership, we could not succeed. Thank you for joining us in our mission. Thank you for being a victor for Michigan. -Marschall S. Runge, MD, PhD, University of Michigan Health System

Dear Knitters, Thank you for your generous donation. It is through donations like yours that we are able to continue to provide a little comfort to those who are going through a difficult time. I truly hope you realize the joy you are bringing to many. We deeply appreciate your act of kindness. -Lorna Stabile, Wilson Cancer Resource Center, Beaumont Hospital

Dear members of Knit Michigan, It was very kind of you to deliver all of the wonderful handmade items for our patients last week. If it weren’t for groups like yours, we wouldn’t have a comfort care program. It means so much to the Beaumont Resource Center and our patients. Your donations enable us to provide patients with free comfort care items. Without the donations, patients would have to go out and purchase them, or do without. While undergoing treatment that’s something they don’t need to think about. Thank you again for being there for us. –Donna Hawks, Rose Cancer Resource Center, Beaumont Hospital

Dear friends at Knit Michigan, Thank you so much for the beautiful items you made for our patients. They are happy and grateful to receive such lovely knitted hats, shawls and blankets. We appreciate having nice things to give them! You make their days. –Thank you again, Andrea Briefs Ferris, RN

My husband is undergoing radiation treatment at Cottage Hospital. Your lovely gift gave him a much-needed boost! –Thank you, Patricia A

How kind and truly generous to share the beautiful hats, scarves, and blankets! Our patients will be so thrilled with these gifts. –Fondly, Lynn, Ascension Crittenton Hospital

Dear sweet ladies, thanks so much for taking your time to knit the breast knockers. They are wonderful. Such a life saver to be able to stuff it in your bra and go. They are so comfortable and easy to use. Much more comfortable than a heavy, cold prosthesis. Thanks again for volunteering your time to make and donate these lovely Knitted Knockers. –Sincerely, KK

Thank you for the chemo caps. You’ve touched my heart and I cannot thank you enough. God bless you mightily for all you do for those who need that extra comfort going through their battle with cancer. Thank you sweet ladies once again.  – God’s Love, Sis. K. Ortega

Please accept my deepest gratitude for your gift of chemo caps, blankets and neck rolls to the Children’s Hospital of Michigan that were received in May. Your gift undoubtedly brought joy to the lives of the children and families we serve. It is because of generosity like yours that we are able to eliminate some of the fear and uncertainty that comes with stays in the hospital. Whether it is toys, games, blankets or clothes, gifts from our community bring a level of comfort to the lives of chidren in our care. With more than 250,000 patient visits, surgeries and hospital stays each year, your support helps us here at Children’s provide a positive link between the inactivity and anxiety of sickness and the normalcy of childhood. Your thoughtful gift really makes a difference. Thank you again for your kindness. Your support will help the children that we care for live happier and healthier lives. – Erin O’Mara, Manager, Community Relations and Volunteer Services

To all involved in Knit Michigan, On behalf of the UM Cancer Center, thank you for the recent donation of WONDERFUL handmade comfort items! The patients are enjoying your creations and appreciate you thinking of them. Thanks for all you do!  – Mary McCully

I would like to thank each and every one of you for your steadfast dedication and commitment in providing our Oncology patients with hats and blankets. It means so much to the women who are going through chemotherapy and losing their hair. Many times they do not have time to get out to the store for hats and wigs before they begin to lose their hair. They all truly appreciated the time and effort. They are so amazed by the beautifully colored hats and the wide variety to choose from. We had two patients that had a hat party in their room with your hats. They tried on many hats, looking in the mirror, laughing and giggling giving compliments to each other. The enjoyment of “shopping” for a new hat made their day. You have made a difference in so many patients’ lives!!! – Cheryl Bartley, Oncology Nurse Clinician, 8 South Oncology

I am sitting at the University of Michigan Hospital…helping my wife through her latest chemotherapy treatment. A comfort care worker just stopped by…and handed my wife one of your neck pillows. She is now sleeping comfortably with the pillow…it allowed her to relax and fall sound asleep quickly. I just want your team to know how helpful your efforts are…and how much I appreciate your generous help. Thanks!!!
